For last twenty years hundreds of children are dying because of encephalitis in Muzaffarpur. Every year same scene, same situation, same hue and cry. Year by year nothing has changed. There is no preparedness to tackle the situation. Leave the research and finding the cause of the disease, there is lack of medicine, doctors medical staff.
In 2014 our Hon'able health minister Dr. Harshavardhan promised during his visit to SKMCH Muzaffarpur to provide many facilities including 100 bed pediatric ICU. He announced setting up 5 diagnostic laboratories in the state, two multidisciplinary research Centers one each in Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga.
5 years, no one remembered those promises and announcements. The same media which has suddenly become so sympathetic and duty bound to cover this story was busy in debating and reporting non issues or we can say setting agenda and issues for election.
No one bothered to ask questions on health, education, social Security. What entire media is doing? Why only government and politicians to blame? Shaping up public opinion is one of the duties of media, they were busy doing the same by debating which politician abused whom/ which community? Mandir, gomata, chaukidar, chor, pappu. Had our media been honest, vigilant and dutiful the entire system would have been different.
Hope this time our media is going to follow this story till its logical end and it would not let people forget and forgive till they get the facilities they deserve.
............ to be continued.
